We are proud to have the Howard County Public Library as our partner. The library does so much for our students from kindergarten through fifth grade. Immediately upon registering for school, students have an opportunity to sign up for a library card. In the primary grades, students visit the library to learn how to access resources on site. We always look forward to sending a representative to the annual Howard County Spelling Bee, which is sponsored by the HCLS. Another program sponsored by the HCLS is the Rube Goldberg Challenge. Each year, we have quite a few groups who participate in this exciting challenge. The HCLS also coordinates the annual Battle of the Books for fifth graders. Excitement roars in area high school gymnasiums when students compete in groups to recall important facts and information from a series of books they read. Finally, in early June, the HCLS visits CCES to encourage reading for their summer reading program. This partnership helps our students in so many ways.
